Hackers take over Twitter’s CEO and Co-Founder Jack Dorsey account

Twitter’s co-founder and chief executive Jack Dorsey’s account was compromised by the hackers, though the matter was resolved later according to the Twitter officials.

His account was hacked on Friday afternoon and the hackers started to tweet around 1 pm local time and continued for a brief period of 20 minutes.

A group referring to itself as the Chuckling Squad claimed responsibility for breaching Jack Dorsey’s account.

Jock Dorsey’s profile, which has more than four million followers started tweeting a flurry of highly offensive and racist remarks.

According to Twitter, its own systems were not compromised, instead of blaming an unnamed mobile operator.

“The phone number associated with the account was compromised due to a security oversight by the mobile provider,” Twitter said in a statement.

“This allowed an unauthorized person to compose and send tweets via text message from the phone number. That issue is now resolved.”

The Chuckling Squad has claimed for a number of attacks on high-profile Twitter accounts recently, including beauty vlogger James Charles and an account belonging to YouTube personality Desmond Amofah, known as @Etika, who committed suicide earlier this year.

This is not the first time that a prominent Twitter account has been taken over by hackers. Past victims of similar hacks include big names like Netflix, HBO, and Marvel.
