K-Electric to recover a surcharge of Rs1.52 per unit from its consumers in the next 12 months

K-Electric — a sole power distribution company in Karachi — will recover a surcharge of Rs1.52 per unit from its consumers in the next 12 months!

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet on Wednesday allowed K-Electric to recover a surcharge of Rs1.52 per unit from its consumers in the next 12 months.

The decision was made at the ECC meeting today chaired by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.

The Ministry of Energy (Power Division) submitted a summary regarding quarterly tariff adjustments of K-Electric at today’s meeting.

The summary informed that as per National Electricity Policy 2021, the government may maintain a uniform consumer-end tariff for the KE and state-owned distribution companies.

Furthermore, the ECC has directed the Ministry of National Food Security to make recommendations to the Ministry of National Food Security approving the cancellation of the prevailing conditions for the import of timber.

In the Economic Coordination Committee meeting, the revised Circular Debt Management Plan was also considered, the committee authorized the utilization of Rs. Approved.

In the meeting, government institutions have been approved to import pharmaceutical raw materials and various ministries and departments have also been approved to give supplementary grants.
