Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi gets bail in illegal appointment case

Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has been granted bail in the illegal appointment case on Tuesday.

As reported, an anti-corruption court in Lahore granted post-arrest bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in a case pertaining to illegal appointments in the Punjab Assembly.


Anti-corruption court Special Judge Ali Raza Awan announced the verdict that was reserved a day earlier after hearing the arguments on an application filed by the former chief minister.


The former Chief Minister of Punjab was granted post-arrest bail against surety bonds worth Rs1 million.

PTI leader was initially arrested on June 1 from outside his Gujranwala residence in an Rs70 million graft case related to the embezzlement of development funds allocated for the Gujrat district.

On the other hand, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) today lodged another money laundering case against Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, and his son Moonis Elahi.

According to sources, both individuals are accused of concealing vast sums of money in five Panamanian companies.
