Lionel Messi confirms that he is coming to Inter Miami Football Club and joining Major League Soccer!
It was widely believed that Messi, 35, eventually would choose to play for Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, following fellow great and his longtime rival Cristiano Ronaldo. However, that’s not the case.
After months of speculation, Messi announced his decision earlier in the week to join a Miami franchise that has been led by another global soccer icon in David Beckham since its inception but has yet to make any real splashes on the field.
Lionel Messi said that he intends to join Major League Soccer side Inter Miami as a free agent after parting ways with French champions Paris St Germain and snubbing a lucrative contract offer in Saudi Arabia.

“I made the decision that I’m going to go to Miami,” Messi said in an interview with Mundo Deportivo and Sport newspapers.

“I still haven’t closed it 100%. I’m still missing a few things, but we decided to go ahead. If Barcelona didn’t work out, I wanted to leave Europe, get out of the spotlight, and think more about my family.”

One of Inter Miami’s owners, Jorge Mas, in a tweet, posted a photo of a darkly silhouetted Messi jersey shortly before the Argentinian great revealed his decision in interviews with Spanish news outlets Mundo Deportivo and Sport.

Messi led Argentina to World Cup glory in Qatar in December 2022.
He has earned a record seven Ballon d’Or Awards and also won the Ligue 1 title in his two seasons with PSG as well as the French Super Cup in 2022.
