Virgin Atlantic ends flight operation in Pakistan

Virgin Atlantic has completely closed its flight operation in Pakistan as its last flight departed from Islamabad to London on Sunday.

Virgin Atlantic’s last flight took off from Islamabad to London’s Heathrow Airport on Sunday.

A British airline, Crawley-based Virgin Atlantic commenced its operations at Islamabad Airport in December 2020 with seven weekly flights.

The airline initially operated four flights to Manchester and three to Heathrow Airport.

The UK-based carrier, which started flying to Pakistan during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic in late 2020, said it had “decided to make a few changes” to its schedule.

The airline’s spokesperson said that the flight operation was started amid the coronavirus pandemic in 2020 from London to Islamabad and Lahore, as well as Manchester to Islamabad.

The spokesperson added that Virgin Atlantic is going to increase its flying program in 2023.

The airline said that they reviewed the whole flight network and decided to make some changes which led to the suspension of London to Pakistan flights.

It is with regret that we’ve taken the difficult decision to suspend our services between London Heathrow and Pakistan,” said a spokesperson for the airline.

“Since commencing operations in December 2020, we have been proud to offer choices for customers traveling between London and Manchester in the UK, and Islamabad and Lahore in Pakistan.

“This is not a decision we have taken lightly, and we’d like to apologize for any inconvenience caused.”
