Karachi faces prolonged power outage, disrupted internet and cellular services
Karachi faces prolonged power outage, disrupted the internet, and cellular services throughout the city after Thursday’s heavy rains and urban flooding.
Many karachiites have complained of disruptions in their internet and mobile services a day after the city was wrecked by record torrential rains.
As being reported, electric supply remains suspended in over 35% areas of the metropolis even after 24 hours.
The power supply was interrupted as water entered the grid stations in North Karachi, Garden, Gadap, and Defence areas.
Sharing an update on the power supply, Karachi electric provider company said that several areas were “inaccessible due to high water levels”.
While power has been restored where possible, KE teams are coordinating with relevant authorities to ensure swift power restoration to other locations. Power will continue to remain closed until all standing water is cleared. #SafetyFirst #HumAapHain (2/2)

The stranded water in various areas and power outages also resulted in the disruption of the internet and cellular services throughout Karachi.
Multiple cellular services providing companies have responded to the situation citing heavy rainfall that has affected the network and that the performance might be degraded for a few days. Technical teams are facing mobility issues due to urban flooding, regretting the inconvenience.
Sindh government spokesperson Murtaza Wahab took to social media to clarify that provincial authorities had not restricted the use of mobile phones for today.
“The restriction will only be in selected areas where Muharram processions take place on the 9th & 10th,” he said in a tweet.
