Asif Raza Mir signs a project with HBO
The actor day, I heard Faysal Qureshi make a point. Earlier Hollywood and western productions focused on casting Indians to play Pakistanis in their projects. However, with Pakistani media emerging on the entertainment horizon with full force, Pakistani talent is now getting recognition abroad. Not only our films and documentaries garnering appreciation abroad, our actors are now being handpicked for particular projects. Case in point, veteran actor Asif Raza Mir being roped in to play an integral part in HBO series, Gangs of London.
Asif Raza Mir’s wife shared the news on her Instagram story, confirming that the veteran actor had signed a project with HBO, to be director by Gareth Evans of The Raid, fame. The project will be set in present-day London, ripped apart by the destructive power struggles of international criminal organisations.
According to Den of Geek Evans has described Gangs of London as “a multicultural world of global crime as it intersects on the streets of London.” The situation in the city becomes a powder keg with the inciting incident of the assassination of the leader of a major criminal organisation, which creates a power vacuum that makes the city rife for warfare amongst the underworld.
Gangs of London will also star Michelle Fairley, Mark Lewis Jones, Jing Lusi , Brian Vernel , Richard Harrington and Emmett J Scanlan amongst others.
No release date for Gangs of Londonhas been announced yet.
