Cher apologizes after criticism over George Floyd tweet!
Cher was mocked for a tweet she shared on Friday claiming she might have prevented George Floyd’s death during his arrest.
The Turn Back Time crooner, 74, shared her comments while she watched the Derek Chauvin murder trial on television, in a tweet posted to her 3.9 million followers Friday.
“Was talking With Mom & She Said ‘I Watched Trial Of Policeman Who Killed George Floyd,& Cried,'” Cher wrote.
“I said ‘Mom, I Know This Is Gonna Sound CRAZY, But.. I Kept Thinking … Maybe If I’d Been There,…I Could’ve Helped,” added in her now-deleted tweet.
The comments were not welcomed by many of the social media users who came out calling the singer and a few labeled her ‘white savior’.
Following the backlash, Cher once again took to Twitter, replying to the criticism she offered her apology,
“I Just got off the phone With Friend Karen. Told her what Happened,& Realized, You Can Piss Ppl Off,& Hurt Them By Not Knowing Everything That’s” NOT Appropriate” To Say. I know Ppl Apologize When They’re In a Jam, BUT TO GOD, IM TRULY SORRY If I Upset AnyOne In Blk Community. I Know My heart,’ she tweeted.

here is how the keyboard warriors reacted to Cher’s George Floyd tweet:
This is significantly underplaying what witnesses who testified TRIED to do to stop his death. There have been MULTIPLE testimonies of everyone from a firefighter to an MMA fighter to a senior man who attempted to diffuse the situation. Singing songs doesn't erase racism, Cher. pic.twitter.com/oATlfe7kOw
