Naseeruddin Shah Calls out the Incompetence of Bollywood

Naseeruddin Shah, a veteran Bollywood actor calls out the incompetence of Bollywood to voice their opinion for the ongoing farmers’ protest in India.

The recent days saw a number of Bollywood stars sharing pro-government stance in their tweets in the wake of International celebrities voiced their support for Indian farmers protesting against the new farm laws.

In a recent interview, speaking with Jameel Gulrays, Naseeruddin Shah discussed how everyone must talk about the farmer’s protesting in India.

He said, “In the end, you will not hear the words of your enemies but the silence of your friends. To say that it is not a matter of personal concern would not be right at all. If our farmers are sitting on protest in the bitter cold we cannot turn a blind eye to them. I am sure that the farmer protest will gain momentum and everyone will join in. This will definitely happen. Being silent is tantamount to supporting an oppressor. I believe this.”

The actor then went on to call out the biggies of the Indian film industry.  He said, “The towering personalities of our film industry are extremely silent over all this. They believe that they may lose something if they speak up.”

“Hey brother, when you have earned so much money that your 7 generations can sit and eat, how much will you lose?”, he added.

“If everything is destroyed then you will not hear the noise of your enemies. You will love the silence of your friends more. We cannot say that I do not mind if the farmers are sitting there in the bitter winter. I hope that this demonstration of farmers will spread and the general public will join it. It has to happen. I believe that remaining silent is the same as committing a crime”, Shah continued.

Shah went on to add that the current environment of his country is like that, “If in today’s time we also say that we do not follow the Indian traffic rules, then you will be made an anti-national. If you say that we Hindustani do not respect each other, then you are a traitor. If you say that you do not like Hindi films, then you are a traitor. You should go to Pakistan.”
