Princess Sofia of Sweden becomes a medical assistant to help fight COVID-19

Princess Sofia of Sweden is the latest royal, offering help amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

According to reports surfacing on international media, the princess has completed an online training program and is now volunteering at Sophiahemmet Hospital alongside other hospital workers.

“Last week, I went through a medical education with a major in health, care and care at @sophiahemmet,” she wrote on her Instagram handle.

“Within the framework of the ‘emergency response,’ I am now placed in one of the hospital’s care units where, together with other newly trained colleagues, I support and relieve the care staff with various tasks, including care of patients and cleaning,” explained the Princess.

She isn’t the only one jumping in to help; about 80 people per week complete the emergency training program in Sweden.

The princess will not be directly assisting patients but rather helping with tasks such as disinfecting medical equipment and providing support for doctors and nurses.

The wife of Prince Carl Philip, Sofia is the honorary chairman of the Stockholm hospital. But now, instead of ribbon cutting and plaque unveiling, she’s an employee on the inside.

Currently, Sweden has more than 13,000 confirmed cases of the coronavirus.
