Ali Mardan Khan Domki sworn in as Balochistan’s Caretaker Chief Minister

Ali Mardan Khan Domki has sworn in as Balochistan’s caretaker chief minister on Friday.

A parliamentary panel formed to finalise the name of the caretaker Balochistan chief minister earlier in the day picked Mir Ali Mardan Domki for the top slot.

Domki was sworn in as interim CM of the province, following Balochistan Governor Malik Abdul Wali Khan Kakar’s approval of the summary in this regard.

Domki is a former district nazim of Sibbi and belongs to the Lahri area of Balochistan. He is the son of former senator Mir Huzoor Bakhsh Domki and the brother of former minister of state Mir Dostin Khan Domki. Domki has an undisputed tribal and political position.

The Balochistan assembly was dissolved on Aug 12, after which former CM Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo and former opposition leader Malik Sikandar Khan had three days to choose a candidate.

However, the matter was referred to the committee after outgoing chief minister Bizenjo and opposition leader Malik Sikander Khan had failed to reach a consensus on a name.
