Australia retain Ashes with victory over England at Old Trafford

Australia has retained the Ashes after beating England by 185 runs at Old Trafford on Sunday.

England, who resumed the day on 18-2, were bundled out for 197 on the final day with Australia seamer Pat Cummins bagging four for 43.

Now, Australia has an unassailable 2-1 lead in the five-match series, ahead of next week´s finale at the Oval.

This match was a triumph for Australia’s Steve Smith, who has made quite a sensational return from his one-year ban for the Newlands ball-tampering scandal. He hit his ninth consecutive Ashes half century with a knock of 82 on Saturday.

That took his tally for the series to 671 runs at 134.2 including three hundred, despite Smith missing the third Test with concussion.

Here is the Match Summary of the 4th Test:

If Australia wins at the Oval next week they will have won their first Test series in England for 18 years.
