Cipher Case: Imran Khan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi to be indicted on Dec 12

During the hearing, Imran and Qureshi were provided with copies of the case record after their lawyer’s request.

Former PTI chairman Imran Khan and Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi will be indicted in the cipher case on December 12.

On Monday, a special court established under the Official Secrets Act 2023 held an open court hearing in Adiala jail where Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi are incarcerated.

The judge of the special court set up under the Official Secrets Act, Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain, informed the accused that the case would be decided in a month on the directive of the high court.

During the hearing, the former PTI chairman Khan and the ex-foreign minister Qureshi were provided with copies of the case record after their lawyer’s request.

The judge adjourned the hearing till December 12, stating that charges would be framed against the PTI leaders on the same day.

Family members and lawyers of the PTI leaders were in also attendance along with special prosecutor Zulfikar Abbas Naqvi and Rizwan Abbasi in the court today.

The development has been confirmed by media persons who were allowed to attend the proceedings.

As reported, only six members of the media were allowed to attend the proceedings today.

The court is conducting the trial afresh after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) nullified the jail trial on November 21.

Khan and Qureshi, both were indicted on October 23 but the indictment was cancelled after the IHC order.
