Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah Passes Away Aged 91
Kuwait Emir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah passes away at 91 on Tuesday.
The announcement of the ruler’s death was made by the Deputy Minister of Amiri Diwan, Sheikh Ali Al Jarrah Al Sabah, announced on Kuwait TV today.

On July 18, The Emir was admitted to the hospital for medical checks and then, a day later underwent successful surgery.

On July 23, he was flown to the United States to complete his medical treatment.
The reason for the surgery or details of what treatment the Emir was going to receive in the US, were not disclosed by the Emir’s office.
Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah GCB, the Emir of Kuwait and the Commander of the Kuwait Military Forces, was sworn in on 29 January 2006 after confirmation by the National Assembly.
