Emma Watson joins the A-list cast of Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of the ‘Little Women’

The 28 years old Harry Potter star, Emma Watson is reported to be all set to join Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of Little Women. She is currently in currently in ‘negotiations’ for the film, according to the media report. While roles are still being decided, it’s not known yet which sister Emma will be playing in the upcoming movie produced by Amy Pascal.

Emma Watson will be joining the big names of Hollywood likes Meryl Streep, Timothee Chalamet, Saoirse Ronan, and Laura Dern in the remake, which is written and directed by Greta Gerwig. This project will also mark the first directorial project for Gerwig since the Oscar-nominated Lady Bird.

This classic novel by Louisa May Alcott which was originally published in two volumes in 1868 and 1869, has been adapted 6 times for film and multiple times for television as well. That includes the 1994 version starring Winona Ryder as Josephine “Jo” March and a miniseries by BBC last year.


The story plot follows the lives of the four March sisters Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy in the American Civil War-era, led by matriarch Marmee, and the novel details their passage from childhood to womanhood.
Meg, the oldest sister, is considered the “beauty” of the family; her younger sisters include Jo, the book’s main character, the stubborn and independent aspiring writer; Beth, the shy and sweet sister, and Amy, the baby of the family, who is a talented artist.
