Karachi: Restaurants sealed, shops fined over SOPs violations

A number of restaurants have been sealed and shops fined over the violations of COVID-19 SOPs.

District administration, along with the army, has sealed more than 300 shops, including a shopping center, for violating the coronavirus SOPs.

According to Deputy Commissioner South Irshad Ali Sodhar’s office, the action was taken against a number of establishments in Karachi over violations of coronavirus SOPs. 

As being reported, the ‘Special Salateen’ and ‘Shinwari’ restaurants were sealed in Clifton for offering dine-in services

While three shops and two restaurants in Saddar were fined a total of Rs70,000 for violating social distancing and mask-wearing guidelines

In Lyari, four shops were fined a total of Rs8,000 over similar violations.

Other than the action taken in the district south, the authorities have also sealed 800 shops and a plaza situated at MA Jinnah Road.

A day earlier, New Jama and Auliya markets were sealed yesterday in Aram Bagh on violation of SOPs.

On the other hand, Sindh government spokesperson Murtaza Wahab has warned that authorities could impose more severe restrictions if the coronavirus situation in Sindh worsens.
