L’Oreal to remove words like ‘whitening’ from its products

Amid the global rise of the Black Lives Matter movement, many of the companies are being criticised for their skin-lightening products.

That has made many international companies drop the word whitening or fair from their products. After the  Indian and Bangladeshi arms of Unilever, French cosmetics giant L’Oreal has decided to do the same.

In a statement on Saturday, French cosmetics giant L’Oreal has announced that it will be removing words like “whitening” from its products, against the backdrop of global anti-racism protests.

“The L’Oreal Group has decided to remove the words white/whitening, fair/fairness, light/lightening from all its skin evening products,” the company said in a statement.
