Maryam Nawaz admits to leaked audio!
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice-President Maryam Nawaz on Thursday has admitted to the recently leaked audio between PML-N leader Pervaiz Rashid and herself.
An alleged audio clip of PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz was leaked online on Tuesday, purportedly featuring her discussing with former senator Pervaiz Rashid the bias of certain journalists towards PML-N.
As being reported, the leaked clip is apparently from October 2016 when then prime minister Nawaz Sharif had returned from a three-day trip to Azerbaijan.
While addressing a press conference on Thursday, Maryam Nawaz said, “As a citizen of Pakistan, it was a violation of my rights to tap my personal phone call. Therefore, I am not going to comment on this issue unless I receive an apology.”
“It was a personal and private conversation that I had with Pervaiz Rashid. Who had the right to tap my personal conversation?” PML-N Vice-President added.
“Why was it provided to one media channel, and why was it on-aired? I want an answer to this,” she added.
Maryam Nawaz went on the say, “I am not answerable about my conversation with Pervaiz Rashid Sahib and neither are any two common Pakistani Citizens.”
On the other hand, PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb told Dawn that, “The real crime is secretly tapping telephone calls and private conversations in violation of the constitutional right to privacy and then leaking them without consent of the people involved.”
“The matter must be investigated and the culprits found guilty of intrusion of privacy given exemplary punishment in accordance with the law,” she added.
