Pakistani Taliban could target the country’s political and religious leadership in the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) rallies to be held in Peshawar and Quetta, the National Counter Terrorism Authority warned Thursday.

According to the reports revealed by NACTA in its letter, the terrorist plan includes killing of high-profile political personalities through a well-articulated bomb blast/suicide bombing in near future”.

NACTA’s threat alert comes few days ahead the PDM rally in Quetta. The anti-government rallies of opposition parties will be held in Quetta on October 25 and in Peshawar on November 30.

NACTA revealed in its letter that security forces recovered eight improvised explosive devices in its raid in Balochistan’s Qamar Din Karez area on October 21 and it is certain that the explosive material “was most likely destined for Quetta and KP”.

The authority has suggested law enforcement agencies to increase the security of political and religious leaders in the country.
