Toshakhana Case: SC to hear Imran Khan’s appeals on August 23
The PTI chairman had challenged the decision of the Islamabad High Court on August 3.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan will hear Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf Chairman Imran Khan’s appeals on August 23 against his conviction in the Toshakhana criminal case.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial on Monday constituted a three-member bench in this regard.
CJP Bandial will lead the bench including Justice Justice Mazahir Ali Akbar Naqvi and Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail.
PTI chairman Imran Khan had challenged the Islamabad High Court verdict of August 3, in which it set aside a trial court verdict that had declared the Toshsakhana reference filed by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) against the PTI chairman as maintainable for criminal proceedings.
Imran Khan was taken into custody for the second time in three months on August 5, 2023, after a district and sessions court sentenced him to three years in prison in the gifts repository case.
PTI has also challenged the trial court’s ruling before the Islamabad High Court.
