The UAE is moving it’s weekend to Saturday and Sunday, effective Jan. 1, 2022.
The country is breaking ranks with the rest of the Gulf region aimed at drawing in global investment and business.
The United Arab Emirates government announced that it will adopt a 4-1/2 day working week, with Friday being a half-day, from Jan. 1.
All Federal government departments will move to the new weekend from January 1, 2022, the notification said.

The Gulf state currently has a Friday-Saturday weekend.
There were no further details on how the plan will affect the country’s private sector.
The UAE and the rest of the Gulf Arab nations, including Saudi Arabia, currently have a Sunday-Thursday working week.
