PSL9: Karachi Kings keep playoff hopes alive after beating Quetta Gladiators
Karachi Kings have kept their hopes to reach the Pakistan Super League (PSL) playoffs alive after beating Quetta Gladiators on Wednesday.
Karachi Kings easily chased a competitively low target of 118 in the 16th over in Rawalpindi in the 22nd match of PSL9, owing to experienced Kiwi batter Tim Seifert, who scored 49 off 31 by hitting six 4s and two 6s.
Meanwhile, England’s James Vince and Pakistan veteran allrounder Shoaib Malik contributed 27 runs each.
Kings’ captain Shan Masood was dismissed in the second over of the innings for just 7 runs.
Shan Masood-led team Karachi Kings dominated the match as they restricted Quetta Gladiators to 118 after choosing to bowl first.
Hasan Ali bagged four wickets, conceding 15 runs in his spell, earning him the Player of the Match award.
Mir Hamza picked 1 and Zimbabwe’s Blessing Muzarabani and Zahid Mahmood picked 2 wickters each.
Saud Shakeel and Khawaja Nafay forged a 47-run partnership for the second wicket in 36 balls before Hasan Ali took his first wicket, sending Shakeel back to the pavilion.
Shakeel emerged as the top-scorer for Quetta Gladiators with his innings of 33 runs off 28 balls, featuring two fours and two sixes.
No other batsman could withstand the tight bowling from the Karachi Kings that made Gladiators lose nine wickets for just 51 runs, of which the last five came for just 29 runs.
