PSL 4: Mohammad Sami named Islamabad United captain

Veteran pace Mohammad Sami has named captain of Islamabad United for season 4. He has been part of the Islamabad United squad since season one and is the 2nd highest wicket taker of PSL.

Reigning Champions United were without a captain after Misbah ul Haq had left to join Peshawar Zalmi. Sami, has been one of the most consistent performer and has proved to be a match winner even on UAE wickets.

On his appointment, Mohammad Sami thanked the team management and owner Ali Naqvi.

“It’s an honor for me to be appointed captain Islamabad United by Mr Ali Naqvi. I have always aimed to give the best of the team. I hope I repay the team for the faith they have shown in me and perform to the best of my ability. I hope I will rise to this challenge. I feel privileged to be given this opportunity and I hope I will continue Islamabad United’s tradition of success,” said Sami.

The Karachi born pacer has captained his region for more than a decade and is a well-travelled international cricketer having played 136 games for Pakistan.

Earlier, Shadab Khan was appointed as vice-captain of the franchise.
