Alex Trebek, Beloved Host of ‘Jeopardy!’ for 36 Years, Passes Away at 80

Alex Trebek, the beloved host of gameshow “Jeopardy!”since its 1984 debut in syndication, has passed away aged 80. He was suffering from pancreatic cancer.

“Jeopardy!” official Twitter account announced the news of his death on Sunday.

The tweet stated, “Jeopardy! is saddened to share that Alex Trebek passed away peacefully at home early this morning, surrounded by family and friends. Thank you, Alex”.

In March 2019, Alex had revealed that he was diagnosed with Stage Four pancreatic cancer.

“I have lived a good life, a full life and I’m nearing the end of that life,” he told USA Today in October.

According to Sony, “Jeopardy!” episodes hosted by Trebek will air through December. 25, and his last day in the studio was on October. 29.

As being reported “Jeopardy!” is not announcing plans for a new host at this time.

He had won five Daytime Emmy Awards for outstanding game show host.
