Riz Ahmed collaborates with BBC for family drama “Englistan”

British- Pakistani actor Riz Ahmed is now collaborating with BBC for his self written television  drama “Englistan”. According to sources, the drama will be produced by Studios Drama London in association with Left Handed Films for BBC Two.

Englistan has been in the pipeline since 2016 and is said to be a nine part series  narrating the story of three generations of a Bristish-Pakistani family as the members pursue their dreams over these four decades, the shifting circumstances and their evolving loyalties.

“Englistan is an untold British story with universal themes and resonance. It’s the story I always wanted to tell, and it’s a privilege to have the opportunity to do so,” shares Riz Ahmed.

“Set against the familiar backdrop of the late 20th century but from a point of view which feels entirely new, Englistan is the story of the birth of multicultural Britain as seen from the inside. We are honored to be working with Riz on this epic, deeply personal story,” shared BBC Drama controller Piers Wenger.
