Wasim Akram named ambassador of Pakistan Polio Eradication Programme

Wasim Akram’s wife, Shaniera Akram, has been very active in regards to social causes and charity in Pakistan. The husband and wife duo also run The Akram Foundation and support the underprivileged members of the society through various causes.

Now, following his active streak in social work, Wasim Akram, Pakistan’s very own cricketing legend has been named the ambassador of the Pakistan Polio Eradication Programme.

“All political parties should play their role in ending polio as all children have the right to be protected from the virus,” Wasim shared with the media.

“Two drops of anti-polio vaccine are the only source of prevention. Let’s pledge to make this country polio-free. Success against polio will be ours,” added the ex-cricketer further.

An agreement was also signed by Wasim Akram alongside the Special Assistant to Prime Minister on National Health Services Regulations and Coordination Dr. Zafar Mirza.

“260,000 polio workers are the true heroes of the polio programme. We shall pledge together to eradicate polio,” said Dr. Mirza while Wasim vowed to do anything he could to help eradicate the crippling disease.
