Yasir Hussain calls out celebrities publicizing their donation drives on social media

Ever since coronavirus has forced the government of Pakistan to enforce a lockdown in the country to prevent the spread of the highly contagious virus, people, especially the daily wage earners have become penniless. These poor people, who had to work on the day to day basis to feed their families have been forced to sit at home and as a result, have been suffering from the lack of basic necessities.

In a gesture of generosity to help the needy, a number of Pakistani celebrities have started off with ration donating drives, sending off basic necessities packed in bags to those in need. However, what is rather abominable about such a generous gesture is the fact that most of these celebrities have resorted to using this donation drive as a publicity stunt.

Such celebrities have been posting pictures of themselves donating ration to the deserving alongside their pictures and embarrassing the person as a result.

Calling out such crass behavior of a few celebrities, actor, host, and screenwriter Yasir Hussain posted a series of updates on his social media.

First Yasir posted a video that showed a man, complete with the headscarf and attire of a religious cleric, asking for the sanity of the masses to do good deeds without showing them off.

“yeh haal hai aaj kal celebrities ka bhi aur baki logon ka bhi. Ya Allah hum sab ko hidayat de. Aqal de. Jazba ata farma. Aur logon ki madad karny ki tofeeq ata farma. Aameen. (This is the state of celebrities and public. Oh God, show us the right way, grant us intelligence, passion, and the means to help. Amen.),” wrote Yasir on his Instagram.

Yasir also penned a note on his Instagram story to condemn the behaviour of the celebrities and telling them to at least not show the faces of people they had been donating the ration to.

 

Yasir also posted a picture earlier questioning what had happened to people who wanted to help others but also show it to the world. He pointed out a harsh difference about how the non-Muslims had been helping others as compared to us, the Muslims.
