Mehwish Hayat is stepping into a new role as a producer as she has launched a UK-based production company!
Taking it to Instagram, Teri Meri Kahaniyaan actor announced the launch of her production house, Pink Llama Films, based in the UK, that will promote authentic representation of Muslims and Pakistanis in Western media.
Mehwish Hayat expressed her excitement about the new venture, stating, “I’ve been working on something special for quite some time. I have spoken extensively about the representation of Muslims and Pakistanis in Western media, and it has become clear to me that talking alone is not enough. If we want to change these perceptions, we need to take matters into our own hands.”
“[My Ms. Marvel] experience strengthened my belief on how important representation really is. At Pink Llama Films, my partners and I are committed to producing content that’s authentic, thought-provoking, and entertaining. I hope that by doing this we can break down stereotypes and promote greater understanding and acceptance in the world,” she added.
“Each story was carefully crafted to challenge stereotypes, dispel misconceptions, and showcase the myriad dimensions of Muslim and Pakistani identities,” she said.
Concluding the announcement, Hayat encouraged others to join her on this transformative journey. She invited aspiring storytellers to share their narratives through Pink Llama Films’ website.
