Jim Carrey set to return in ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3’

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will open in theaters on Dec. 20, 2024.

Jim Carrey is all set to return in ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3.’

In the latest development, we get to know that Jim Carrey will reprise his role as Dr. Robotnik in the third sequel of the franchise.

For the past few months, there have been questions about whether the comedian would return to Sonic as he stated last year that he wanted to take a break from acting after Sonic The Hedgehog 2, which premiered in April 2022.

And here there are spoilers even though the second film in the series ended with Dr Robotnik falling from a giant robot to the ground below, a potentially fatal tumble.

However, the film’s post-credits scene, revealed that Dr. Robotnik’s body has not been found, setting the stage for Sonic’s main antagonist to make a dramatic return.

Carrey’s return was teased on social media with the “Sonic” filmmakers releasing a teaser that included Dr. Robotnik’s distinctive cackle.

Jeff Fowler, who oversaw the first two films, is returning as the director of the latest sequel.

Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher, Toru Nakahara and Hitoshi Okuno will produce the film.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3’s cast will also include Krysten Ritter, Cristo Fernández, Alyla Browne, Jorma Taccone, and more.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will open in theaters on December 20, 2024.

The franchise’s two films, “Sonic the Hedgehog” and “Sonic the Hedgehog 2” after getting $870.8 million at the combined global box office, have encouraged Paramount, the studio behind the video game adaptations, for another instalment.
