Cyclone Biparjoy: Energy Minister warns of increased electricity load-shedding in Karachi

The power minister has warned of increased electricity load-shedding amid Cyclone Biparjoy in coastal areas, including Karachi.

Energy Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan taking to social media sent an alert to the citizens saying, “Cyclone BIPARJOY has disrupted RLNG shipping to Pakistan, causing a temporary decline in RLNG-based electricity generation & temporary increase in load-shedding.”

“We are ensuring full fuel supplies to Karachi Electric to maintain routine supply to Karachi citizens,” he added.

“We have mobilized 5 distribution companies to assist Hyderabad HESCO in restoring power during and after the storm,” he informed.

The federal minister notified that the recovery teams of GEPCO, LESCO, FESCO, MEPCO, and SEPCO, will leave soon and reach the affected coastal areas in advance.
