Hollywood’s super star Sylvester Stallone under probe for sexual assault

It was told by a spokesperson that US prosecutors have launched a probe to determine whether film star Sylvester Stallone should be charged in connection with a sexual assault reported last year. “A case was presented today by the Santa Monica Police Department regarding Sylvester Stallone,” Greg Risling, a spokesman at the Los Angeles District Attorney´s office, told news agency AFP, and it is under review by sex crime task force.

The case is about the involvement of a woman who reported in last November that she was assaulted in 1990 by actor best known for “Rocky” and “Rambo”, who happens to be 71 years old now.

To provide more details about the alleged assault or to clarify whether California’s 10-year statute of limitations applies in the case has been declined by the L.A district attorney’s spokesperson.

“My client categorically denies the allegations,” Stallone’s attorney, Martin Singer, told CNN. The Santa Monica Police Department turned over the case, which was first reported to it in November 2017.

When the allegation first surfaced in last year, Stallone´s attorney, told US media that his client “categorically disputes the claim and it is apparent that the woman filed the report to get a media outlet to publish the story”.

The allegation against the internationally famous star comes around in the wake of the #MeToo movement that has focused attention over sexual harassment issue in Hollywood and all across the world now. This #MeToo campaign took off last year when sexual assault allegations against Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein came to lime light. Since then it has become a worldwide phenomenon. In the wake of the Weinstein scandal many celebrities and influential people, including actor Kevin Spacey and broadcast journalist Charlie Rose, have been accused of sexual harassment.

Sylvester Stallone will be appearing again on silver screen as his two movies are slated to release in 2019 Rambo V and Creed 2.
