IHC reserves verdict on Imran Khan’s intra-court appeal against order on open trial in cipher case

A short order on the appeal will be announced today

The Islamabad High Court reserved its verdict on Tuesday on an intra-court appeal filed by Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan against a single-member bench’s decision that had approved the former premier’s jail trial in the cipher case.

As reported, the verdict reserved by the two-member division bench will be announced at around 5:30 pm today.

A division bench comprising Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb and Justice Saman Riffat Imtiaz reserved the verdict on the PTI Chairman’s plea.

Justice Aurangzeb, during the hearing, remarked that a short order on the appeal will be announced today, adding that the detailed order will be issued later.

On November 14, the Islamabad High Court suspended Imran Khan’s jail trial in the cipher case.

The PTI chairman is currently in Adiala jail after he was indicted by the special court Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain.

The IHC’s order came after the caretaker federal cabinet approved the jail trial of Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the case.
