KPK Closes Educational Institutions as Coronavirus Tally Hits 21

As Pakistan’s Coronavirus tally hits 21 on Friday, the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced to shut down all educational institutions for 15 days. The government has also asked students in hostels to evacuate the premises by evening.

In addition to the closure of schools, colleges, and universities, the KPK government has postponed all examinations scheduled in the province and canceled festivals and events.

KPK also asked its citizens to observe precautionary measures in their interactions and banned public gatherings in the province. Additionally,  the number of weddings will also be reduced in KPK to contain the spread of Coronavirus. Jail visits to inmates have also been banned for the time being.

As of today, Pakistan has 21 confirmed cases of Coronavirus with 15 in Sindh, five in Gilgit Baltistan and one in Balochistan. The latest case in Karachi, a 52-year old patient, is the first local who has contracted the virus within the country.
