Light rain showers in Karachi bring relief to smog hit weather conditions

Rain sends chills across Karachi

Light rain showers in Karachi on Saturday evening have brought relief to smog-hit weather conditions.

Light rain started in the southern and coastal areas of the port city on Thursday likely to improve the Karachi air quality index (AQI) of Karachi.

 

Widespread intermittent thundershowers are expected across Karachi during the next 24 hours with cold winds under the influence of the western system.

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted rain in areas of Sindh and Balochistan including Karachi today.

According to the MET Department, “a new series of westerly winds is likely to enter Southwest Balochistan from tonight, under the influence of Karachi Division on the evening/night of Saturday, November 25 and Sunday, November 26.”

Thunderstorms and rain have been predicted by the Meteorological Department in Tharparkar, Umarkot, Badin, Mirpurkhas and Thatta.

Apart from this, there is a possibility of rain in some parts of Jamshoro and Karachi today and tomorrow.

According to the Department of Meteorology, there is a possibility of rain with strong winds and thunder in West and South-West Balochistan today due to western winds.

Meanwhile, smog and fog have been predicted in Punjab in the morning as a lockdown is in force in 10 districts of the province including Lahore to control the smog.

Due to the lockdown, all educational institutions will remain closed today and markets will open after 3 pm, while all businesses will remain closed on Sunday.
