Islamic scholar Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman has asked Prime Minister Imran Khan to declare three days of Eid ul Adha as public holidays.

Mufti Muneeb, while addressing a press conference in Karachi on Wednesday, said that traditionally Eid is a three-day celebration.

Note that  last week, the federal government had announced a three-day holiday, from Friday, July 31 to Sunday, August 2, on account of Eid ul Adha.

As per the notification, Sunday, the second day of Eid, would be the last holiday while Monday – Eid’s third day— will be a working day.

He said that there is “no conflict between ulema and science” and that the ulema “also have scientific knowledge”.

He further  said meterologists from Pakistan Meteorological Department were also present and a part of the decision making during the sighting of Eid ul Azha’s moon.
