Punjab Police clarifies CM and Governor entitled to wear its uniform
The statement comes out at a time when CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz is being criticized for adorning the police uniform.
Punjab Police has clarified that provinve’s CM and Governor are entitled to wear its uniform!
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz appeared dressed in police uniform during a function organized at the Police Training College in Lahore on Thursday igniting controversy if she can wear it or not.
However, the provincial police department clarified that she is indeed “entitled to wear the police uniform” as per the Punjab Police Dress Regulations.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter Punjab Police wrote: “This has been widely celebrated by the police personnel, who view it as a commendable show of solidarity. The Central Police Office has received hundreds of messages in which police personnel have lauded this step.”
Punjab Police also shared a notification dated January 30, 2024. As per the notification it allowed the provincial governor and chief minister to wear the uniform on formal occasions such as parades, while addressing police darbars, visiting police establishments, or any such occasion as specified, for encouraging police personnel and troops.
