Sindh government shuns fake weather red alert

The Sindh government has denied a fake weather updates doing rounds on WhatsApp and social media stating that the provincial authority did not issue such report on weather.

“Sindh Government has issued ‘RED Alert’ for next 96 hours in Karachi. Mean temperature will be between 50.1 to 55.5 °C. The citizens are advised to drink 8-9 liters of water a day and avoid going out in open sun from 9am-4pm,” reads the text on the fake weather update.

As reported by a private TV channel, the fake text message is being circulated on WhatsApp and social media predicting the temperature ranging from 50.1 to 55.5 degree Celsius in Karachi for the next four days.

Murtaza Wahab, adviser to Sindh Chief Minister for information, while interviewing to the media refuted the red alert saying no such report has been issued on behalf of Sindh government.

“Sindh government has not issue such report, this is fake news circulating on WhatsApp and social media,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) in a three-day weather forecast, predicted that the temperature will maintain between 35 to 38 degree Celsius with high humidity on the next three days.
