TikTok declared ‘Haram’ in a fatwa issued by Jamia Binoria Town
Fatwa calls for ban on the application over content concerns.
TikTok app has been declared ‘haram’ in a fatwa issued by Jamia Binoria Town!
Wednesday saw a groundbreaking move, as Jamia Binori Town in Karachi issued a fatwa denouncing the widely popular video-sharing platform TikTok.
The religious scholars, in the issued religious decree, cite concerns that the platform is being exploited for financial gain through inappropriate content.
The fatwa emphasises that TikTok is predominantly used for engaging in illicit activities, such as sharing prohibited images, videos, and music, disseminating indecent content, and promoting inappropriate humour, among other violations.
Furthermore, the fatwa maintained that individuals of various age groups, including the youth and the elderly, engage in activities on TikTok to earn money, some of which may not align with strong moral values.
It also highlights the need to consider the potential negative impacts on individuals’ behaviour and ethical values.
