US set to strike Iraq and Syria in response to the drone attack in Jordan

The attack on Tower 22 resulted in the deaths of three U.S. soldiers and injuries to 47 others.

The US is set to strike Iraq and Syria in response to the drone attack in Jordan!

Sunday’s attack on a remote outpost known as Tower 22 near Jordan’s northeastern border with Syria, killed three US troops.

A drone struck near the base barracks early in the morning.

According to the US Central Command, 34 personnel were wounded, eight of whom required evacuation.

The United States has approved plans for multi-day strikes in Iraq and Syria against multiple targets, including Iranian personnel and facilities, CBS News reported on Thursday, citing U.S. officials.

However, the report did not provide details on what a U.S. approval meant in terms of a timeline for the strikes.

The U.S. blamed the drone attack in Jordon that left 3 American troops killed, on Iran-backed militants.

US President Joe Biden in a statement released on Sunday said that “radical Iran-backed militant groups operating in Syria and Iraq” were behind the strike on the frontier base in Jordan’s northeast.

Biden’s top diplomat, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, said on Monday that the U.S. response ‘could be multi-leveled, come in stages, and be sustained over time.’

US troops operate at the base near Jordan’s border with Iraq and Syria as part of an international coalition against the Islamic State militant group.
