Bollywood actress Nafisa Ali has been diagnosed with cancer. The veteran actress shared the news on Saturday, via an Instagram post, revealing that she has been diagnosed with stage 3 cancer.
In an Instagram post, featuring a photo with the Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, Nafisa Ali wrote, “Just met my precious friend who wished me luck & to get well from my just diagnosed stage 3 cancer”.
In another post, wishing her daughter ‘Happy Birthday’, she wrote, “My children are my reason to get better through my cancer struggle and overcome. It’s just going to take its own course with Peritoneal & Ovarian cancer”.
Nafisa is married to Arjuna award-winning golfer, Colonel Sodhi and has three children.
Born in West Bengal on18 January 1957, Nafisa Ali has accomplishments in several fields. Apart from being associated with the field of acting she is also a politician and a social worker.
She was the national swimming champion from 1972-1974. She represented India at the Miss International contest in 1976 and was declared the 2nd runner-up.
She made her Bollywood debut in 1979 staring along Shashi Kapoor in film Junoon. Her other films include, Major Saab with Amitabh Bachchan (1998), Aatank (1996), Bewafaa (2005), Life in A… Metro (2007), Yamla Pagla Deewana (2010) with Dharmendra, Guzaarish (2011), Saheb, and in Biwi Aur Gangster 3 (2018) as Raj Mata Yashodhara
She has been taking part in active politics since 2004. Nafisa Ali is now a member of the Congress party. Earlier in 2009, she contested for the general elections on a Samajwadi Party ticket.
