Federer’s dream of the ninth Wimbledon title vanquished!

Roger Federer’s dream of winning a record-equalling ninth Wimbledon title ended with a heart-breaking quarter-final defeat against Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz on Wednesday.

14th seed Hurkacz had won only four matches on turf, outclassed Federer, the winner of 20 Grand Slam titles, by 6-3 7-6(4) 6-0 in straight sets.

It was the second time when the Swiss Maestro was lost a set without even winning a game.

Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic continued his impressive run in Wimbledon 2021 as cruised past Hungary’s Márton Fucsovics in straight sets by 6-4, 6-3, 6-3 to enter the semifinal.

This was Djokovic’s 100th win on grass courts.
