French investigators searched the headquarters of Paris Olympic organizers on Tuesday in a probe into suspected corruption

French Police raided the Paris 2024 Olympic Games Headquarters on Tuesday.

The headquarters of the Paris 2024 Olympics organizing committee and those of its infrastructure partner were being searched by police on Tuesday as part of investigations into alleged embezzlement of public funds and favoritism, the prosecutors said.

According to the news org AFP, the searches are being carried out at several sites, including the organization committee and at Solideo, the public institution in charge of spearheading the constructions and renovations tied to the Olympic and Paralympic Games

Paris 2024 spokesperson Jonathan Firpo told CNN that a “police search is currently underway at the headquarters of the Organising Committee.”

“Paris 2024 is cooperating fully with the investigators to facilitate their investigations,” Firpo added.

An official with the financial prosecutor’s office revealed that the searches are linked to two preliminary investigations related to the Paris Olympics that had not previously been made public.

The official was not authorized to be publicly named according to the prosecutor’s office policy.
