HBL PSL 4: Three franchises set to make a profit

3 PSL franchises, Islamabad United, Quetta Gladiators & Peshawar Zalmi set to make financial gains for the 1st time in 4 years. Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans will incur a loss in this financial year as well. Karachi Kings’s status is not confirmed yet however it is expected that their sponsorship deals will help them avert their losses.

PSL’s new broadcasting and title sponsorship deals are the chief source of new income, which in turn goes back to the franchises. It is expected that an income of $2.2 million will be amounted in the central pool, and would subsequently be distributed amongst the franchises. The three year deals for title sponsorship and broadcasting bagged $14.3 million and $36 million respectively.

With 8 matches being played in Karachi, PCB also earned a decent amount from gate money. It is expected that the central pool will go up to $2.5 million.

Other franchises would hope that number of revenue streams will increase and they could start making profits. However, after 3 years of losses, PCB officials would be pleased that their model is working and it would attract more sponsors and investors.
