‘What about Gaza?’ Ali Zafar calls out Malala

Malala's prior statement on Israel-Palestine received quite a backlash on social media as well

Ali Zafar calls out rights activist Malala for not uttering a word for a cease-fire in Gaza.

As the Nobel prize laureate Malala took to X-platform voicing her concerns about the deportation of illegal Afghan refugees from Pakistan, celebrity singer Ali Zafar reminded her of Gaza where in the recent Israeli offensive innocent children are being killed.

“Afghan refugees — children, women, men, elderly — fleeing Taliban persecution deserve support, dignity, and safety, not further obstacles and harassment. I echo UN experts’ call and urge the Pakistani government to reconsider its rushed policy of mass deportation,” said Malala.

Reposting her quote, Ali Zafar questioned, “What about Gaza @Malala? If not for anything else, then the children? You have influence. Should we not expect more from you?”

Malala’s prior statement on Israel-Palestine received quite a backlash on social media and netizens slammed the activist for being ‘hypocritical’.

Nobel Laureate and education activist Malala Yousafzai posted a statement on X on Oct 10, calling for an “immediate ceasefire”, which has left netizens fuming at her stance and refusal to expressly condemn Israeli oppression in Palestine.

In a post on X, Malala wrote, “I join the call for an immediate ceasefire. As I have processed the tragic news of the past few days, I think of the Palestinian and Israeli children caught in the middle.”

Soon after her statement was posted, the hashtag #Malala started trending on the platform and netizens criticized her carefully worded statement to chastise her for remaining “neutral”, being “hypocritical” and “aligning herself with the oppressor.”
