COVID-19 is not going anywhere, anytime soon and while the world prepares to enter the ‘new normal’ era, we look back to see which big names around the world and locally, contracted the virus.
The latest and at the top of the list is US President Donald Trump and his wife Melania Trump who tested positive for COVID-19 just last week.
In Pakistan, it was politicians from all parties, all factions who were at the hit of COVID-19, and luckily they all survived.
Shahbaz Sharif, Shahid Khakan Abbasi, Ahsan Iqbal, Maryam Aurngzeb, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Governor Sindh Imran Ismail, Sindh education minister Saeed Ghani, and SAPM Zafar Mirza were among the Pakistani politicians who were affected by COVID-19.
Globally, from Canadian PM Justin Trudeau’s wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Prince Charles, his wife Camilla Parker, former Indian president Pranab Mukherjee also contracted COVID-19.
While Mukherjee later passed away due to lung infection, Hesse Finance Minister in Germany, Thomas Schäfer committed suicide as he suspected he had contracted the virus.
Big names from all over the world came under the virus outbreak. This included:
Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson.
Idris Elba and his wife.
Dwayne Johnson and his family.
Including eleven players from the Bangladesh national football squad tested positive for coronavirus in August.
Among the Pakistani celebrities:
The singer turned politician Abrar ul Haq tested positive for COVID in June.
Nida Yasir and husband Yasir Nawaz also contracted COVID-19 along with the cast of Yasir’s drama that included Alizey Shah.
Veteran actress Rubina Ashraf was also affected by the virus and had to fight a long, complicated battle against the disease.
Veteran actress and director Sakina Samo also contracted corona but thanks to the Almighty she has fully recovered now.
