Four doctors, staff members at top hospitals of Karachi contracts coronavirus

Four doctors and staff members at the top healthcare centres of Karachi, including the Aga Khan and Liquat National Hospital, have contracted coronavirus, reports revealed on Saturday.

The details includes three staff memmebr of the Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH), including a doctor, a radiologist and a staff, have tested positive for COVID-19, which has compelled the top Karachi’s hospital to temporarily suspend the screening and testing of coronavirus.

The administration of Aga Khan Hospital screened majority of their staff, including doctors, staff members and nurses as well as other staff, reports surfaced on media.

“Three of our staff members including a surgeon, a radiologist and another staff member have contracted COVID-19 virus but shockingly, they acquired the virus from ordinary patients who were not suspected of having coronavirus,” an official of the AKUH told, adding that at the moment, an environment of uneasiness prevails at the campus as “nobody knows who is infected and who is not”.

Also, the management of  Liaquat National Hospital revealed that one of their doctor working at the Radiology Department has also been tested positive and put in quarantine at his home. The doctor had recently returned from the Tableegi Ijtimah from Raiwind.

The LNH management added that seven more members of staff, who came into contact with the infected radiologist, have been put in the isolation for 14 days.
