Trump’s national security adviser tests positive for COVID-19

Robert O’Brien, the national security adviser of US President Donald Trump has contracted coronavirus, the White House announced in a statement.

“But there is no risk of exposure to Trump or Vice President Mike Pence”, the White House said, adding that “he has mild symptoms and has been self-isolating and working from a secure location off site”.

“The work of the National Security Council continues uninterrupted,” stated the White House.

It has further stated that the staff is regularly tested for the virus, and O’Brien is the most senior official to be found positive amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Earlier, a US military member who works at the White House as a valet tested positive for coronavirus in May and later Vice President Mike Pence’s press secretary also contracted the highly contagious infection.
