Jhok Sarkar Episode-1 Review: A decent start but a bit underwhelming
Jhok Sarkar is set in the world of Jhok Sial
HUM TV’s much-anticipated drama serial Jhok Sarkar kicked off with a decent start but was a bit underwhelming. The serial is penned by Hashim Nadeem and it is executed by Saifee Hassan, and produced under the banner of MD Productions. It seems that the drama is based on Hashim Nadeem’s novel. Jhok Sarkar is set in the world of Jhok Sial. The lead cast includes Farhan Saeed, Hiba Bukhari, Asif Raza Mir, Saqib Sameer, Sakina Samo, Faiza Gillani, Malik Raza, and others.
The first episode opens with a scene showing two characters, Sassi and Noori, who are friends discussing something grave, Noori is telling Sassi about her plans of elopement with a guy Shoki in Jhok Sial. The character of Sassi seems quite unimpressive Hiba Bukhari fails to create any impact and on top of that, her accent is such a turn-off. Instead of stopping her friend from risking her life, she wishes her all the best.
Farhan Saaed’s appearance on screen as ASP Arsalan is quite impressive. Well ASP has not yet landed in the vicinity of Jhok Sial. Arsalan seems an obedient and simple guy who has a family and family responsibilities too. He is hailing from a humble background. Arsalan has a girl in his life who seems to belong to a rich family and it also seems that she is very much interested in Arsalan.
One of the best things about Jhok Sarkar is that it is full of colors, the vibrant colors of South Punjab, and the beauty of the Saraiki language are what make it a special treat to watch. Here I like to appreciate HUM TV for showing diverse cultures like in Neem we see the beauty of Kashmiri culture here are vibrant colors of South Punjab. Asif Raza Mir is back on screen as Peeral with his power-packed performance. He is the feudal lord of Jhok Sial.
Peeral has two wives the first one is the neglected one, the aged one played by Sakina Samo, and the other wife is Zulekha (Faiza Gillani) the younger and I guess the beloved one. Peeral has a son Meeral who seems like creating a menace kinda a feudal brat. He is on a mission to find out about Noori and Shoki. It is so good to see Saqib Sameer in a different avatar of Munshi Dhani Baksh. Jhok Sial has been given the status of a district so the local Inspector (Malik Raza) seems worried and he asks favor from Peeral to appoint him DSP but he orders him to find Noori and Shoki immediately. The ending scene is quite terrifying where both Shoki and Noori get caught I fear for their lives. Overall Interesting!
