Coke Studio 11: Episode 1 has raised expectations

Coke Studio 11 has us addicted to the show like it has never before! Great job Ali Hamza and Zohaib Kazi. The first episode released four songs and each one was a winner in its own special way. Covering various genres and working towards the agenda of inclusivity, the episode lives up to the promise.

Shikwa/Jawab-Shikwa –  Natasha Baig and Fareed Ayaz and Abu Muhammad

Weaving rock and ‘qawwali’, every beat had the power to move you and give you goosebumps! Iqbal would be proud is all we can say.

Baalkada – Lucky, Naghma and Jimmy Khan

While all the movies releasing on Eid ul Azha claim that their festive number is probably the Shaadi track of the year, Baalkada proves it’s worth the title! And to think it features two transgender singers, launching them to mainstream music, hats off!

Rap Hai Sara – Lyari Underground and Young Desi

Rap Hai Saara is fresh, powerful and full of energy. Promoting rap in Pakistan, the lyrics are in Balochi, Urdu, and Punjabi.

Main Irada – Rachel Viccaji, Haniya Aslam, Shamu Bai and Ariana and Amrina

Main Irada is a powerful women’s anthem with a great message. It empowers women, it celebrates women and it’s AMAZING!

Shikwa/Jawab-e-Shikwa- Fareed Ayaz, Abu Muhammad & Brothers and Natasha Baig

Allama Iqbal’s timeless poetry is brought to life in this one. Shika/Jawab-e-Shikwa is exquisite, beautiful and so much more than what words can explain.
