Dev Patel to play Pakistani businessman in new TV series The Key Man

The Key Man, limited series will tell the story of disgraced financier Arif Naqvi.

Dev Patel is all set to play a Pakistani businessman in the new TV series The Key Man!

As reported, Oscar-nominee British actor will be portraying fallen Pakistani Businessman Arif Naqvi in the upcoming TV series. The Slumdog Millionaire actor will also serve as executive producer for Miramax Television’s limited series.

As reported by Deadline, the series follows the trials and tribulations of the charismatic businessman who was the founder of Dubai-based private-equity firm Abraaj. Employing charm and genius Naqvi swindled some of the world’s elite investors including billionaires, politicians, and religious figures.

As per the synopsis of The Key Man:

Based on last year’s bestseller by WSJ reporters Simon Clark and Will Louch, it chronicles how Arif Naqvi (Patel), a charismatic Pakistani businessman who was the founder of Dubai-based private-equity firm Abraaj. Brilliant and inspirational, Naqvi became a global sensation as he built a billion-dollar empire persuading the global elite and titans of industry that the improbable key to solving poverty, hunger and political unrest is through his highly profitable investments. Enmeshed in the world of Popes, presidents, and profits, Arif’s empire came crashing down when his false promises proved to have severe consequences.

Patel is also making his feature directorial debut with the upcoming Monkey Man for Netflix, which he also co-wrote and stars in.

Dev Patel’s last TV stint was four years ago in Prime Video’s Modern Love.
